HISTORIE/DOCUMENTATIE
De MG B: een populaire sportauto zoals hij hoort te zijn: lichtgewicht, wendbaar en een genot om mee te rijden. Deze Roadster betreft een zeer fraai en origineel exemplaar die prachtig is uitgevoerd in een diep donkerblauwe kleur, beige mohair softtop, originele chroombumpers en spaakwielen met een klassieke uitstraling. Hij is geproduceerd in 1973 en is nieuw geleverd in het zonnige klimaat van de Verenigde Staten (zoals het merendeel). De auto is hierdoor roestvrij gebleven. In 2003 is de auto geïmporteerd naar Nederland, waar hij is gekoesterd door liefhebbers. Bij de auto zijn veel accessoires, boeken en documentatie aanwezig. Denk aan een rally-tripmeter, taxatierapporten, clubinformatie, prijslijsten, oude foto's, catalogussen, werkplaatshandboeken en een groot aantal aan informatieve boeken.
EXTERIEUR
In het verleden is de auto gerestaureerd waarbij het lakwerk op een nette manier is gespoten. De carrosserie is zeer netjes en roest- en schadevrij. Het lakwerk springt in het oog en is opvallend fris. In november 2025 is de auto professioneel gepoetst waardoor hij blinkt als nooit tevoren. Op de zijkant pronken de 'Union Jack' emblemen. Ook de rubbers en de verlichting zijn gaaf. De spaakwielen beschikken over goede banden. De originele chroombumpers zijn vrij van noemenswaardige beschadigingen. Het chroomwerk verkeert in een zeer mooie staat. De ramen zijn getint. Ook de softtop verkeert in goede staat zonder scheuren of beschadigingen, en het sluitwerk functioneert goed.
INTERIEUR
Het beige interieur is nog zeer fraai zonder beschadigingen en ademt een Engelse sfeer. Door het bouwjaar is hij van comfortabele gemakken voorzien, zoals hoofdsteunen, heupgordels en verwarming. Op de vloer liggen keurige beige matten. Ook het dashboard en de tellers verkeren in een keurige staat. De nette kofferruimte biedt plaats aan het reservewiel.
TECHNISCH
Het motorcompartiment ziet er verzorgd en schoon uit en biedt plaats aan de 1.798 cc 4-cilinder motor, welke is voorzien van 5 maal gelagerde krukas. Hij is verder voorzien van elektrische ontsteking, een oliekoeler en de ophanging voor en achter is vernieuwd. Daarnaast zijn de bladveren aan de achterzijde, het uitlaatsysteem en de koppelingscilinder vernieuwd. Technisch is de MG goed onderhouden en hij start, rijdt en schakelt dan ook uitstekend. Kortom: een schitterend exemplaar van een echte rijdersauto van een iconische auto om een lach op uw gezicht te toveren.
ALGEMENE INFORMATIE
De MG B volgde in 1963 de MG A op, een auto die voor MG - onderdeel van The British Motor Company (BMC) - al tamelijk populair was met ruim 100.000 exemplaren. De MG B zou tot 1980 geproduceerd worden en hiervan zijn uiteindelijk nog meer geproduceerd: ruim een half miljoen exemplaren. Naast de roadster zijn ook andere varianten geproduceerd zoals de MG B GT driedeurs 2+2 coupé (1965-1980), de zescilinder MG C (1967-1969), en de achtcilinder MG B GT V8. De MG B was met zijn 1.8-liter motor en 95 pk een stuk krachtiger dan de 1.6-liter MG A. Naast prestaties en rijeigenschappen moest de MG B hoog scoren op het gebied van veiligheid en betaalbaarheid. Door deze combinatie werd de auto een groot succes. De carrosserie is zelfdragend en het lage zwaartepunt en gebruik van aluminium carrosseriedelen zorgt voor een laag gewicht van 970 KG en een hoge mate van wendbaarheid. Het onafhankelijke veersysteem komt het comfort dan weer ten goede. Kortom: een groot succes in het hoogtepunt van de Britse auto-industrie. TECHNICAL

GENERAL INFORMATION
